Epic Rides ...A good day on the bike

Grand Pro Roster Announced!

The inaugural Grand Junction Off-Road Presented by U.S. Bank is shaping up to be a who's who in the professional mountain bike ranks. Rep'ing large and in-charge over Labor Day weekend, the list of 50+ notable riders chasing their piece of the $20,000 cash purse split evenly between the men and women runs deep.

Among the men include German transplant to the American xc mtn bike scene Ben Sonntag who finished 4th in the Whiskey 50, recent winner of the Downieville Classic, Carl Decker, and international personalities like Yuki Ikeda of Japan and Kris Sneddon of British Columbia, Canada.

The female roster includes favorites like Teal Stetson-Lee of Team Luna, 2013 Mountain Bike Stage Race World Champion Amanda Carey of Team Notubes and 3rd Place finisher in the 2013 Whiskey Off-Road Fat Tire Crit Chloe Woodruff.

The Grand is one of the few events where amateurs and pros compete on the same 40 mile course loaded with world class trails. It's a great opportunity to gauge your time against mountain biking's best!

Bacon & Big Wheels. Huh. What?

Get Clunked at the Fat Tire Crit

People. Brace yourselves for the first ever Clunker Crit! Starting the evening off on the good foot at 6p, the Clunker Crit is free and open to anyone who wants to have fun on a bike regardless of what kind of bike it is. All that is required, is for each participant to register at the Epic Rides registration tent. With registration each participant will receive a paper....errr...number plate.

Think of the Clunker Crit as a kid's race for adults. Costumes and bike decorations are highly encouraged, so bring a helmet and your artistic fashioning.

Following a proper Clunking, America's top pro riders will compete in the Fat Tire Crit on a fast 10 corner course guaranteed to get hearts pumping and cowbells ringing. Running right down the gently meandering Main Street, there will be plenty of great places to eat dinner and have a drink while watching all the action.

Foot note: Beer & wine garden in turn 8.

Hoppy Goodness - Beer Garden Info

Prepare yourself for an authentic taste of the Grand Valley at the Rockslide Brewery Beer Garden. Our friends at Rockslide will be pouring hoppy, malty goodness in the center of the DT Swiss Event Hub, located off 4th and Main Street.

Race fans and spectators will have prime, front row seating at turn 8 of the Fat Tire Crit on Friday and the free community concert starting at 10a on Saturday. If beer is not your thing, don't miss tasteful wine selections from Canyon Wind and Two Rivers Wineries.

All gardening proceeds will benefit the Avalon Cornerstone Project, a capital fundraiser for the renovation and expansion of the historic Avalon Theater located in downtown Grand Junction.

Beer Garden Hours:
Friday - 5-8pm
Saturday - 10-8pm
