Old Pueblo Welcomes Rosemont Copper

Epic Rides is pleased to announce Rosemont Copper has signed on to be the Official Course Sponsor of the 11th Annual Kona Bikes 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo. We feel this is a great match and will allow everyone in 24 Hour Town to interact with the folks at Rosemont Copper and learn firsthand about Rosemont's environmentally-minded approach to copper mining.

Although some would argue copper mining isn't environmentally conscious, it's important to acknowledge our high-powered lighting systems, bike computers, and many other items we utilize while enjoying our pursuits in the outdoors couldn't function without the superior qualities of copper. And that hybrid car you drove to 24 Hour Town? It needs twice as much copper as your neighbor's 1967 Chevy Impala. Got solar panels or wind turbines to power your home? Then you need more copper than most folks tied to the grid.

Rosemont estimates their mine will produce nearly 10% of our nation's copper once it's up and running at full capacity. One of their main goals is to make this mine an international demonstration of how to balance mineral production with environmental protection. Rosemont Copper will set a standard for sustainable practices, including consuming less than half the water of traditional mines, and reclaiming the site as permanent open space by reclaiming the land throughout the life of the mine. In addition, Rosemont Copper will create a private stimulus for the local, regional and state economy with new jobs, spending, tax revenues, and a community endowment for charitable projects.

If you're anything like us, and can't wait to get the dirt on Rosemont, Epic Rides encourages you to visit Rosemont online at www.rosemontcopper.com. Or even better, take their free mine tour; get started by calling (520) 975-6110. Rosemont will be in the expo at 24 Hour Town, too, so talk with them, and ask them the hard questions -- that's why they're here. Hopefully you're just as impressed as we are, and you'll see why they're worthy of digging in our backyard.

According to them, "Rosemont Copper's vision is to use sustainable mining practices to create a bridge from Arizona's mining past to a high-tech, renewable future.
