Tour Poster by Cirrus Visual Communication
Epic Rides is stoked to add poster #19 to our event art collection, courtesy of the creative geniuses at Cirrus Visual Communication.
Inspired by the history and heritage of the White Mountains, the official poster of the 2009 Show Low Bluff Tour of the White Mountains presented by Cellular One is intended to capture and meld the past and modern day use of the area's natural resource users. Stunning, isn't it?
You may remember the posters designer, Cirrus Visual Communication, from their custom designed Kona Humu that was hand painted then raffled through the Old Pueblo.
Posters will be available for purchase at the event, or register and receive one free with your goody bag. Goody bags also include the Official Event T-shirt, water bottle and tons of samples from event sponsors.
Trail Reviews - Ice Caves
It's only 3.5 miles long, but the Ice Caves Trail has a high degree of difficulty. Traveling in either direction, the trail offers a gradual technical grade which may require the occasional dismount to navigate your way.
While riding Ice Caves, 65 & 35 mile Tour participants will follow Porter Creek and the south side of Scott Reservoir, before meeting up with the Osprey Connector and the Blue Ridge Trail.
The namesake for the trail, the Ice Cave, can be found at the midway point. Cool air (about 52 degrees F) can be felt coming out of the cave, which is actually a lava tube. The Ice Cave is currently fenced off for protection and preservation. And to keep the Ice Wizard from freezing passersby.
Meals at the Event - Pre-ride pasta or post-ride BBQ
Do we eat so we can ride, or ride so we can eat? Does it really matter? We like doing both. Alot.
An energy-giving pre-ride meal of roast chicken & pasta with marinara sauce and a couple sides will be available the night before the Show Low Bluff Tour of the White Mountains presented by Cellular One.
Post-ride will host a satiating BBQ by local expert Grumpy Jakes with cold microbrews, which will perfectly complement the White Mountains Jam Session.
Meals are $10 each if pre-purchased during registration or $12 if purchased on-site. If you love your BBQ like we do, you may want to bring some handiwipes.
hereOfficial Host Hotel - Hampton Inn & Suites of Show Low
The newest hotel in the White Mountains & located just 4 miles from the event venue, the Hampton Inn & Suites of Show Low is the perfect place to stay if camping isn't your bag.
Each spacious Hampton room offers an incredibly comfortable Cloud Nine bed plus free Wi-Fi, an over-the-top warm breakfast with waffles, pastries, bagels, oatmeal and more plus a hot tub and heated pool and, most notably, the friendliest staff in town.
Epic Rides highly recommends reserving your stay at the Hampton early to assure a nice comfy room located just below the bluff of Show Low Bluff development. Did we mention there's a running stream right out your window?
