Trail Reviews - Osprey Trail
The Osprey Trail is one of the newest trails in the White Mountains Trail System. At 2.2 miles long, 65 & 35 mile Tour participants will experience this moderately-difficult flowing trail as a connector between the Timber Mesa & Ice Caves trails.
Osprey offers its visitors beautiful views of Scotts Reservoir from a heavily-treed area (kinda makes ya feel like a ewok when riding its Jedi-quality singletrack).
The story behind its name, according to T.R.A.C.K.S. members, is that while they were surveying the area a fish dropped out of the air and lively-flopped upon the ground, roughly a mile from Scotts Reservoir. The T.R.A.C.K.S team looked up and saw on osprey flying overhead. Thus, a name was born.
Caution: the Osprey Trail includes a water crossing which should be avoided if water levels are high...or if you forgot to bring your floaties.
On-line Forums - A Great Resource...
Got a question that needs answering? Have an opinion and want to share it with the world? The following online forums are great resources to get the latest beta on all things mountain biking...check it.
The first, Tucsonmtb.com, is a great place to find out about mountain biking in Southwest Arizona. With photo galleries, forums, and a calendar of events, you can connect with other mountain bikers who dig on Arizona's trails. Oh, there's a free classified section too. How 'bout them apples.
The other, mtbr.com, features reviews on products new and old, so it's a great resource any time of day. It also has photo galleries and forums galore, with forums for regional areas, manufacturers (Huffy lovers unite!), and even different genres of bikes, like 29ers or all-mountain rides. So get your forum on, and tell 'em Epic sent you.
