Ride Like Mike

In honor of Mike Janelle, Epic Rides has made a few additions to the Whiskey Off-Road in effort to help everyone get a better understanding for who Mike Janelle was and why he was so fun to hang out with. Additions include…

• Ice cream sandwiches, one of Mike's favorite foods to eat while riding, will be available at the 50 proof turn around point; now, the Skull Valley Café. Participants can indulge in an ice cream sandwich from the Skull Valley Café and hopefully get the extra boost necessary to climb out of Skull Valley in record time…
• Mike's father, Jack Janelle, and close friend, Jay Henry, will share a couple stories and provide some of their personal experiences with Mike during the pre-ride meeting on Friday evening.
• Ride Like Mike… everyone riding will have the opportunity to join some of Mike's closest friends, riding buddies and family including Jay Henry, Jimi Mortenson, Gretchen Reeves, Nat Ross, Myron Billy and many many other people at the start line and along the route… Ride like Mike!

Whiskey Off-Road Film Fest - Starring…You!

Shoot and produce a 'Youtube' film and win the ultimate prize, a Go Pro Hero camera.

How it works: It's simple, shoot a bunch of film from your event weekend, cut it up/edit and then upload to Youtube, then, send Epic Rides a link to your production. Footage can include anything; from training for event weekend, the road trip to and from Prescott, the ultimate crash, stand out clips from the ride itself or you and friends completing the Whiskey Off-Road Watering Hole Challenge.

Send Epic Rides the link to your flick. We'll include all video links in an Epic Rides eNewsletter after the event. The video with the most views by May 15th wins its producer a Go Pro Camera.

The fine print: In order to identify the films on Youtube, please include "Whiskey Off-Road" in the title, we encourage being clever with this part of your production.

Unofficial Course Pre-Ride This Weekend

This weekend marks the unofficial course pre-ride for the 5th Annual Whiskey Off-Road. This will be a loosely organized effort.

Simply put, there is no start time or location and no limitations on who needs to be where, when… we at Epic Rides simply want to encourage anyone interested to go out and ride the course.

We rode it last week; it's in great shape and has about 18 active stream crossings along the way to dunk your head in and cool off from time to time.

We highly recommend starting and finishing your pre-ride from the Prescott Coffee Roaster. Not only does the 'Roaster' have awesome steamed eggs and the best beans around but it's also got a HUGE map of the Whiskey route on the wall so you can take one last look before setting out on your journey.

If you need any last second equipment, check out High Gear Bike Shop located just seconds away from downtown Prescott.
