3 Distances to Choose From - 15, 25 or 50 Proof
The Whiskey Off-Road offers participants 3 great distances to choose from. In the spirit of Prescott's Whiskey Row, Proof = Mile. Much like whiskey, some of these miles can be pretty stiff. Following is a brief run-down of course descriptions & highlights (choose wisely):
15 Proof - For only 15 miles in length (+/-), the 15 Proof provides all its participants a huge Ôbang for the buck'. Novice riders can expect a 2.5+ hour-long ride. Along the way they'll get in a big climb, top out at an amazing panoramic view from Sierra Prieta Overlook, refuel at an aid station and then enjoy an endless descent under a pine & juniper tree canopy. The 15 Proof is composed of about 45% single track, 40% dirt road and 15% pavement. This is the perfect ride for first timers looking for an authentic mountain biking experience.
25 Proof - Ahh yes, this course will take participants up two major climbs for the day. The first is encountered early on; the second is located in the middle of the ride. The two climbs are split by a traversing undulating piece of single track that finishes with a 15+ minute downhill, your cheeks will hurt from smiling by the time you reach the bottom. It's righteous.
The 25 Proof course is often referred to as a "real mountain bike course". From time to time it presents a technical element that will require riders to know their boundaries. It's not unheard of for people to choose to get off and walk a section from time to time. No less, all Ôeffort points' earned on the climbs can be cashed in on the final descent back to town. This monster Ôdrop-in' has it all; tight switch backs, Jedi single track, blazing fast double track and even a brief boulder garden… all to be enjoyed amongst the pines in Prescott National Forest.
50 Proof - The 50 proof has gusto. Anyone willing to attempt it has much the same. Those enduring the 50 Proof will ride the same route as the 25'ers plus an out'n back in the middle (picture an upside down lollypop w/stick). The out'n back, or the stick, is all dirt road. Sound simple? The descent out is fast and long. About half way to Skull Valley the riders' state of mind approaches bliss. About two thirds of the way they begin to realize they've got to come all the way back up the endless descent… thus, an endless climb. The climb's crux lies right before Aid #3 with roughly 1 mile at 20% grade. Give it some stick…

Later Start Times = More Sleep
With superior cooperation from the City of Prescott, Yavapai County and Prescott National Forest Epic Rides' was able to move this years Whiskey Off-Road to the last weekend in April (previously in mid-May).
The later start times will benefit participants in many ways… most notably, cooler riding temps for added comfort while riding and possibly even more significant, being able to stay out later the night before on Whiskey Row!
