Old Pueblo Tips/Survival Suggestions Presented by Tucson Medical Center
Epic Rides felt it would be to everyone's benefit to provide a short list of suggestions or recommendations to make everyone's 24-hour race experience as enjoyable as possible.
Following is a list of "survival suggestions," if you happen to have questions beyond the points addressed on this list please feel free to send your questions to info@epicrides.com
Arrive at the course at least 24 Hours in advance for better odds on a choice campsite. Don't forget to bring plenty of firewood to burn in your Chiminea. Remember we're in the desert, please do not arrive at the event intending to scare up enough wood to get you through the night.
Water
Remember you're going to a mountain bike race in the desert, you will definitely need water. Epic Rides will supply some but please assist with the effort by bringing enough to get you and your teammates started.
The water provided by Epic Rides is not intended for cleaning bikes. If you desire a clean bike for each lap of the event please bring sufficient water for you to feed your inner most desires.
Bring Clothes to Accommodate
Daytime highs: 76 degrees / Night time lows: 43 Degrees
Pre-ride the Course
One of the best ways to assure a safe good time at the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo is to get out and pre-ride the course. We are firm believers in there being no substitute for a pre-ride.
Food
Peddler on the Path will be there to keep you warm with their hot cocoa at night, and keep you cool with their fruit smoothies during the day. Blue Banjo BBQ & their infamous 'Street Tacos' are always a favorite in 24 Hour Town. All food pricing is reasonable. Bring cash.
Massage Therapist Team
Ease those aching muscles. The team will be composed of some veterans to the effort and some students. Tip the students, pay the veterans. Plan to pay approx. $1/minute. The longer the massage the sweeter the deal.
Bike Parts & Accessories
Various shops and industry vendors will be on site to assist you with all your bike needs
Showers
Epic Rides has showers to clean up in. Bring your towel.
Can I Bring My Dog?
We at Epic Rides love dogs! Of course you can bring your dog.
HOWEVER, we also realize not all dogs are alike. Some have more experience than others amongst well populated areas. This being the case, ALL dogs MUST stay on leashes at all times. There are NO exceptions to our request.
A dog found off leash will result in the disqualification of the owners team (or team they are associated with) and the request that your party leave town immediately. Sorry to be direct however past experiences have determined this is the best way to approach this K-9 situation. We truly appreciate your cooperation.
On-Line Registrants
Please do not forget to mail in waivers on time in order to avoid processing fees.
